Brief Introduction of IJO International Journal of Ophthalmology(IJO) is an international ophthalmological academic publication and a peer-reviewed periodical (ISSN 1672-5123). This journal is sponsored by Xi’an Medical Association, China and obtains guidance and support from WHO and ICO/IFOS. It was established in September, 2000 and the editorial office is in Xi’an, China, monthly. The general academic advisors include Prof. Bruce E. Spivey, MD(the president of International Council of Ophthalmology ICO/The Executive Body of International Federation of Ophthalmological Societies IFOS); Prof. G.O.H. Naumann, MD(the ex-president of ICO/IFOS); Prof. R. Pararajasegaram, MD(the consultant ophthalmologist of WHO) and Prof. G.N. Rao, MD(the president of International Agency for the Prevention of BlindnessIAPB). Prof. T.J. Liesegang, MD(editor-in-chief of American Journal of Ophthalmology AJO) et al. are our international academic advisors and editors. Prof. Shi-Yuan Zhang, MD(ex-president of the Chinese Ophthalmological Society) and Prof. Dennis S. C. Lam, MD (secretary-general, the Asia-Pacific Academy of Ophthalmology)are the honorary chief editors. Prof. Yan-Nian Hui, MD (director, Eye Institute of the Whole Army, the Fourth Military Medical University of Chinese PLA) is the editor-in-chief. Prof. Xiu-Wen Hu, MD (the president of the IJO Press) and Prof. George C. Y. Chiou, PhD(the founding chief editor of) Journal of Ocular Pharmacology & Therapeutics are the co-editor-in-chief. Prof.Xiao-Xin Li, MD (president of Chinese Ophthalmological Society/diretor of Department of Ophtahlmology, Peking University) et al. are the associate chief editors. Prof. Li-Xin Xie, MD (academician of the Chinese Engineering Academy) and Prof. Jia-Qi Chen, MD(academician of the Russian Academy of Science) et al. are our academic advisors and editors. IJO is a Chinese-English mixed publication and it accepts contributions in English or Chinese from all over the world. It includes mainly original research articles and short research communications, both basic and clinical papers. It has been internationalized both in editorial committee and in contributions and has been indexed by "Chemical Abstracts" of America, "Abstract Journal" of Russia, Elsevier Bibliographic Databases of the Netherlands (EMBASE/Scopus) and the Source Journal for Chinese Scientific and Technical Papers and Citations (China Core Periodical of Science and Technology). Subscriptions are welcome! Citing IJO literature is welcome!
